Aeon’s Law was created from lived experience of temporary accommodation, housing disrepair, safeguarding concerns and the impact unsafe conditions can have on children and families.
This campaign calls for stronger legal duties, faster action, clear accountability and emergency protection where children are placed in unsafe accommodation.

From Campaigning to Legislative Change
This photograph was taken during one of my housing campaigns with ACORN outside Tower Hamlets Town Hall. Together, we challenged the housing crisis and called for safe, secure and affordable homes for everyone.
That campaign became an important step in my journey. While collective action raises awareness, my lived experience as a mother living in temporary accommodation showed me that lasting change also requires legal reform.
That is why I founded Aeon's Law — a campaign to strengthen legal protections for children and families living in temporary accommodation, so that every child has a safe place to call home.
Campaign in Action
Taking the housing fight into the streets.
In August 2026, I joined ACORN’s national day of action in London, campaigning against unaffordable rents and calling for stronger protections for renters and families.
I spoke publicly, helped lead chants and used my lived experience to challenge the systems keeping families in housing insecurity.
Aeon’s Law is not being developed from the sidelines. It is growing through lived experience, public campaigning, community organising and direct engagement with housing policy.

From Lived Experience to Parliament
Taking children's voices into Parliament.
Following my campaigning work, I submitted written evidence to the UK Parliament's Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee, documenting my family's experience of temporary accommodation and calling for stronger legal protections for children.
My evidence now forms part of the official Parliamentary record and represents another step towards meaningful legislative reform through Aeon's Law.

What Aeon’s Law is calling for
The live UK Parliament petition calls for mandatory inspections, strict repair deadlines and emergency rehousing where serious risks persist. Aeon’s Law builds on those measures with wider priorities for accountability and child-centred housing decisions.
1. Mandatory inspections
Every family temporary accommodation placement should be inspected before children are placed there.
2. Repair deadlines
Vermin, damp, mould, heating, hot water and safety risks must have strict legal repair deadlines.
3. Emergency rehousing
Children should be moved urgently when serious hazards continue or repairs are not completed.
4. Stronger accountability
Councils, housing providers and managing agents must face consequences when children are left at risk.
5. Child impact protection
Children’s health, education, sleep, safety and wellbeing must be central to housing decisions.
Why this matters
This is about childhood.
Aeon was very young when our years in temporary accommodation began. Nearly seven years of his childhood were spent in temporary accommodation.
Children do not experience temporary accommodation as a housing statistic. They experience it as home, childhood, school, sleep, safety and stability.
Aeon’s Law exists because those years matter — and because no child should have to lose part of their childhood waiting for a safe home.
